What types of events do you perform at?
I perform at weddings, receptions, functions, rehearsal dinners, private parties and corporate events.
What is the minimum and maximum time you can play music for?
I generally do events that are 2 or 3 hours of music but I can do a minimum of 1 hour if required. I can play for a maximum of 3 hours.
What are some common time frames for having music at my wedding?
Music at the ceremonies are usually from 3pm onwards and during the pre-reception drinks. Or starting around 7pm for dinner and then finishing the night off with dancing.
In what areas do you perform and travel to?
I perform around the Nelson area and Blenheim, New Zealand. Be sure to get in touch with any inquiries if you are outside this area as well.
Is travel included in the pricing?
Travel costs are included in the pricing for Nelson region. Blenheim will incur additional travel costs.
Do you provide your own sound system?
Yes I bring all the equipment I need to make music, as well as some basic lighting.
Can the PA system be used for speeches?
Yes, you can use the microphone for speeches if required if I am there and setup already. I will check the levels and make sure each person speaking can be heard clearly.
Can we play our own music?
Yes, if you have a song you want played for your first dance, in the breaks or for a small playlist at the end of the night.. then I have an input on my system to plug in your mobile phone headphone jack, or to play off a laptop.
Do you have breaks during your sets?
Yes, I will take short break of around 5 minutes after each hour of playing.
Can we make a special song request for our wedding?
If there any special songs you would really like for parts of your ceremony, like walking down the aisle, signing the register, walking out, or for the first dance and if you have given me at least one months notice, I will learn and play them for you. Or if you prefer the original songs played through your iPhone or Laptop, then no problem.. you can plugin to my PA system with the cable provided.
What is required at the event for setup?
All that I require is a suitable space to setup my gear, around a 3 metre square space or corner. And also a power outlet that is close. I have extension chords to cover 5-10 metres but the closer the better.
Will we meet before our event?
It is not always necessary as we can usually communicate via email and phone, but if you wish we can schedule a time to meet and discuss the needs of the event if you are in the Nelson area.
Why should I hire a solo musician?
It’s easier to deal with just one person for all of your music requirements. Hiring a solo musician will cost you a lot less than a full band.
What is the setup time and when will you arrive at the venue?
For gigs further out of Nelson, I will arrive around 1 hour before I am due to play and setup my gear. In some cases where the venue is in Nelson and in the evening, I will setup during the afternoon.
How and when are payments made?
Your booking and date is secured once the 30% deposit has been made. You will be given payment info immediately after booking. Final payment can be made anytime before the event, or at least within one week after the event.
Do we sign a contract to engage your services?
Yes, after booking, I will send you a performance contract that helps both parties understand and lay out what is needed and expected for the event. If you would like to book a date, we will email you a contract and after it is returned with the deposit, your date and time will be reserved.
